Charley Horse

Well, we say Charley and the Chocolate Factory yesterday. It goes into a lot more than the first movie and makes me want to read the book. At first I thought the words to the Oompa Loompa songs were odd (odd they even had songs) until it was pointed out in the credits that these are the songs they sing in the book. Wow. Dahl was really messed up. I like it. Anyway, I thought this was very well done! There were a few nostalgic moments when Edward Scissorhands would pop into my head, but they were quickly whisked away.

City of Heroes has made a few changes on the test server that upset me. I'm going to assume that when they messed around with defenses, accuracy, life, damage, and the like, they're keeping it somewhat even and fair, even if it is in a roundabout method. However, they limited the number of pets a controller can have out to one at a time. This annhilates most controllers' pets, which are tweaked to create as many as possible at once. In fact, this will make soloing completely impossible for Magical Mew Mew. *sighs* bastards. They keep trying to force players to play the way THEY want you to play. They also added 4 new power sets. On the whole I am disappointed in them. I was expecting something fantastic, unique, interesting. No. They merely mimic other powers sets of their type. The tertiary effect is unique, I'll admit, but honestly they could use a bit more imagination. Meh.

Anyway, enough of a rant on that. Went out to a Japanese Steakhouse today, Sakura. Very yummy! And I got a lot more ideas that I have to use in my campaign (which I'm working diligently on). I'm also feeling in a bit of a funk again. I better get over this soon, whatever it is.

The songs were in the book, yes... in fact, I rather wonder if he didn't cut out some of the lyrics in the real songs. Some of them are pretty lengthy in the book. Also, the back story about the crazy dentist father isn't in the book. And at the end, Wonka's offer is for Charlie's whole family to come and live in the factory with him. It wasn't bad, though... it would have needed some additions to fill out time and to give it a little more cohesion and .... well, to be more "grounded"... the book is definitely weird. Although, they left out my favorite joke!!

=============

They streaked past a black door. STOREROOM NUMBER 71, it said on it. WHIPS--ALL SHAPES AND SIZES.

"Whips!" cried Veruca Salt. "What on earth do you use whips for?"

"For whipping cream, of course," said Mr. Wonka. "How can you whip cream without whips? Whipped cream isn't whipped cream at all unless it's been whipped with whips. Just as a poached egg isn't a poached egg unless it's been stolen from the woods in the dead of night! Row on, please!"

Oh yeah, there's the humor!
